The other day at work out of pure boredom I joined a rating community, the first I have come across at livejournal. As I browsed through the applications and comments I was appalled by the nasty and blatantly superficial things the members said to the newcomers. They had a few questions on the application for tastes in music and such, bet the comments in general were based solely on looks. So I posted the old pictures—the only ones I have--and went ahead and applied, curious to see what they would say and planning a huge post pointing out the immaturity of their community whether I was accepted or not. I was brutally rejected which I thought was rather amusing. It doesn’t really sting at all to be rejected by a bunch of 14 yr. olds whose favorite things ever are Hilary Duff, Instant Messenger, and "boys." As for my irate post, Michelle took care of that for me, commenting after the "rejected" stamp at the bottom of the page. (Awesome comment Michelle; my opinions exactly!)

After that was all settled I was invited to another rating community. I briefly skimmed over the application; this one asked you for your opinions and views on controversial issues. "A little more meat here to judge," I thought, "…rating based on how a person thinks—not just on how they look—and how well they express themselves…" I spent an hour in the library at school on the application. The comments on this one—though most are complimentary—are worded better, constructive and focused more on intelligence than beauty.

So peoples, sorry to have bored you but I’m at work with nothing to do again and the results on the communities fascinated me, so naturally I wrote about it…
